The short answer
Use quero visitar o Brasil porque… (I want to visit Brazil because…) to give a reason. Add a topic you care about, such as food, music, nature, or meeting people. This pattern also works with quero conhecer o Brasil, where conhecer emphasizes experiencing or getting to know a place.
Start with a reason using porque
Brazil is large and diverse, so talk about your own interests rather than suggesting that one activity or region represents the whole country. A specific reason makes it easier for the other person to recommend a place or ask a follow-up question.
Quero conhecer o Brasil porque gosto de música brasileira.
I want to get to know Brazil because I like Brazilian music.
Quero visitar o Brasil porque tenho curiosidade sobre a comida local.
I want to visit Brazil because I’m curious about local food.
Name what you hope to experience
Use quero conhecer… for a place or experience you hope to discover. Use quero experimentar… for something you want to try, especially food or an activity. Add a specific noun after the verb so your answer gives the conversation somewhere to go.
The adjective brasileiras agrees with músicas, while brasileiro agrees with português. Keep the article and noun together as you learn new vocabulary: a música, o português, a natureza.
Quero conhecer cidades menores e conversar com as pessoas.
I want to explore smaller cities and talk with people.
Quero experimentar pratos regionais e ouvir música ao vivo.
I want to try regional dishes and listen to live music.
Ask about someone else’s travel interests
A simple follow-up turns your answer into a conversation. O que você quer conhecer? means ‘What do you want to see or experience?’ You can also ask which places the person recommends, then follow one detail in their answer.
If the person names a place you do not know, ask onde fica (where it is) or o que tem para fazer (what there is to do). These questions keep the exchange clear without requiring a long explanation.
O que você mais quer conhecer no Brasil?
What do you most want to see in Brazil?
Você recomenda algum lugar para quem gosta de natureza?
Do you recommend a place for someone who likes nature?
