The short answer
Quer cozinhar comigo? means ‘Do you want to cook with me?’ You can also suggest the activity with Vamos fazer o jantar juntos? (Shall we make dinner together?). Juntos changes to juntas when the group is feminine; juntos is also used for a mixed group.
Make a relaxed invitation
Use a specific food or day if you want to turn the invitation into a plan. A short follow-up helps you confirm whether the person is free and what they would like to make.
Quer fazer pão de queijo comigo no sábado?
Would you like to make pão de queijo with me on Saturday?
Que tal preparar uma comida brasileira juntos?
How about making a Brazilian dish together?
Divide the tasks with clear verbs
Combine vamos with an infinitive to suggest a shared task: Vamos cortar os legumes (Let’s cut the vegetables). To ask the other person to choose, say O que você prefere fazer? (What would you prefer to do?).
Name a task rather than assuming what someone wants to do. You can offer options—wash, chop, stir, or set the table—and agree on the order together.
Eu preparo o arroz e você faz a salada?
Shall I make the rice and you make the salad?
Você pode mexer o molho enquanto eu corto a cebola?
Can you stir the sauce while I chop the onion?
Coordinate ingredients and timing
Ask what is already available with A gente já tem…? (Do we already have…?). If something needs to be bought, say Quem vai ao mercado? (Who is going to the market?). A gente is a common spoken way to mean ‘we’ in Brazil and takes a third-person singular verb.
End by confirming a start time and the dish. This gives everyone the same plan before you begin cooking.
A gente já tem alho e tomate?
Do we already have garlic and tomatoes?
Vamos começar às seis e meia?
Shall we start at six thirty?
Put it into practice
Invite someone with quer…? or vamos…?, share tasks using clear cooking verbs, and confirm what to buy and when to start.
