Share an Opinion in Portuguese and Keep the Conversation Open
A short opinion frame and one follow-up question can help you take part without needing a long, polished speech.

The short answer
Eu acho que… (I think that…) is a flexible way to introduce a view. Na minha opinião… (in my opinion…) makes your perspective explicit; pra mim… (to me…) often sounds conversational. Pick one frame that feels easy to retrieve, then complete it with an idea you actually want to share.
Start with a phrase that fits your confidence
Eu acho que esse filme é divertido.
I think this movie is fun.
Pra mim, é melhor ir de manhã.
For me, it’s better to go in the morning.
Na minha opinião, essa ideia faz sentido.
In my opinion, that idea makes sense.
Give one reason instead of adding more grammar
Add porque (because) and one clear reason. A short supporting thought makes your meaning easier to follow and gives the other person something specific to respond to. You can use familiar verbs and everyday vocabulary rather than reaching for an advanced argument.
Eu prefiro viajar de trem porque posso relaxar.
I prefer traveling by train because I can relax.
Acho que devemos sair mais cedo porque vai chover.
I think we should leave earlier because it’s going to rain.
Invite another point of view
Conversation stays balanced when you give the other person room to answer. Ask E você, o que acha? (And you, what do you think?) or Você concorda? (Do you agree?). You can acknowledge a different view without changing your own.
- Eu acho que… — I think that…
- …porque… — …because…
- E você, o que acha? — And you, what do you think?
Put it into practice
The I Speak Portuguese source pairs opinion phrases with a listening exercise. This adaptation focuses on a compact three-part exchange: view, reason, and invitation to respond.
