Report a Power or Internet Outage in Portuguese

A clear outage report includes the service, location, start time, and whether neighbors or other rooms are affected.

The short answer

Faltou luz is a common way to say the power went out; queda de energia is a power outage. For internet, say a internet caiu or estou sem internet. Add the place and time so the building manager or provider can understand the problem quickly.

Say which service stopped working

Explain whether the issue affects only your apartment or also a shared area. Avoid guessing about the cause. A specific report lets the responsible person check the right equipment or contact the service provider.

Faltou luz no meu apartamento há dez minutos.

The power went out in my apartment ten minutes ago.

Estou sem internet desde a manhã.

I’ve had no internet since this morning.

O problema também está acontecendo no corredor.

The problem is also happening in the hallway.

Ask who will follow up and when

After reporting the problem, ask whether a technician needs access and how you will receive an update. Protocolo is a service reference number; prazo is an estimated time frame. If you receive a reference number, write it down so you can follow up without repeating the entire report.

When you contact a building manager, keep the message brief and include your unit or the affected area. Do not open electrical equipment or attempt repairs based on language from a phrase guide; contact the responsible professional or provider.

Você pode me passar o número do protocolo?

Could you give me the service reference number?

Preciso estar em casa para receber o técnico?

Do I need to be home to receive the technician?

Vocês têm uma previsão de atendimento?

Do you have an estimated time for service?

Put it into practice

Report the affected service, location, start time, and scope; then ask for a reference number and a follow-up estimate.
