The short answer
A condominium building may be called a condomínio, and the staffed entrance or front desk is often the portaria. Use apartamento or the abbreviation apto. for your unit, and bloco for a building block when there is more than one.
Give the building and apartment details clearly
Delivery instructions vary by building. Give only the information needed to identify the correct unit, and follow the condominium’s process for visitors and packages.
É no bloco B, apartamento 204.
It’s in block B, apartment 204.
Pode deixar a encomenda na portaria?
Can you leave the package at the front desk?
O interfone não está funcionando.
The intercom isn’t working.
Ask where and when to collect a package
Encomenda means a parcel or package, and retirar means to collect or pick up. If you receive a notification, ask whether the package is at the portaria or another collection point and what identification the building requires.
A porteira or porteiro may be the person at the front desk; wording varies by the person’s gender. You can also use the neutral phrase pessoa da portaria if you do not know who is working.
Minha encomenda chegou?
Has my package arrived?
Onde posso retirar o pacote?
Where can I pick up the package?
Preciso mostrar algum documento?
Do I need to show any identification?
Put it into practice
Use portaria, apartamento, bloco, and encomenda to give or confirm delivery details. Follow the building’s visitor and package procedures.
