Book a Massage in Brazil: Ask About Duration, Pressure, and Price

Learn how to ask about massage options and communicate a comfort preference clearly at a Brazilian spa.

Real Life Portuguese · 5 min read · Updated October 15, 2026

The short answer

A massage is massagem. Ask which types the spa offers and how long each session lasts. If a service name is unfamiliar, ask the staff to describe what is included rather than relying on a literal translation.

Ask what types of sessions are available

Quais tipos de massagem vocês oferecem?

What types of massage do you offer?

A sessão dura cinquenta ou sessenta minutos?

Does the session last fifty or sixty minutes?

Book a time and confirm the price

To make an appointment, use marcar um horário. Ask whether the price is per session and whether you should arrive early. If the spa has a cancellation policy, ask the employee to explain it before you confirm.

Tem horário amanhã depois das cinco?

Do you have an opening tomorrow after five?

Qual é o valor da sessão? Preciso chegar antes?

What is the session price? Do I need to arrive early?

Communicate a comfort preference

Leve means light or gentle; forte means strong or firm. Tell the therapist what pressure feels comfortable and speak up if you want an adjustment. These phrases communicate preference; they do not replace professional medical advice for pain or an injury.

Prefiro uma pressão mais leve, por favor.

I prefer lighter pressure, please.

Pode diminuir um pouco a pressão?

Could you reduce the pressure a little?

Put it into practice

Ask what a session includes, confirm its duration and price, and state your comfort preference clearly.
