Hotel Check-In in Brazil: A Simple Portuguese Dialogue
A calm check-in is easier when you can say your name, confirm the reservation, and ask two practical questions about the room.

The short answer
At reception, say that you have a reservation and give the name it was booked under. Reserva is the booking; no nome de means ‘under the name of.’ If you have a confirmation number, you can say número da reserva and show the email or booking screen.
Start by saying you have a reservation
A short, clear sentence is enough. You do not need to explain your entire itinerary before the receptionist asks the next question.
Oi, tenho uma reserva no nome de Morgan.
Hi, I have a reservation under Morgan.
Aqui está o número da reserva.
Here is the reservation number.
O café da manhã está incluído?
Is breakfast included?
Ask about the room and essentials
If you arrive before the expected check-in time, ask whether the room is ready rather than assuming it will be. For a practical request, mention one need at a time: Wi-Fi access, luggage storage, or where the elevator is.
The phrase fazer o check-in is common, but you can often communicate more simply with tenho uma reserva. Use por favor when making a request and obrigado or obrigada when thanking the staff, according to how you describe yourself.
Meu quarto já está pronto?
Is my room ready yet?
Posso deixar a mala aqui até o check-in?
Can I leave my bag here until check-in?
Como faço para conectar no Wi-Fi?
How do I connect to the Wi-Fi?
Practice a two-turn exchange
Try the exchange out loud once as the guest and once as the receptionist. Rehearsing both sides helps you recognize likely replies such as documento (ID), assinar (sign), and horário (time or schedule). Keep the confirmation email available in case a name or date needs checking.
- State your reservation name.
- Confirm one detail, such as breakfast or room readiness.
- Ask the receptionist to repeat a name or time if you missed it.
Put it into practice
Use one clear sentence to check in, then ask focused questions about the stay. Written booking details can support the conversation when names or dates are hard to hear.
