Make Weekend Plans in Brazilian Portuguese: Invite, Accept, or Reschedule

Use flexible phrases to make a casual plan, accept with enthusiasm, or suggest a different time without sounding abrupt.

The short answer

A casual invitation can begin with Você quer…? (Do you want to…?) or Bora…? (Want to…?). Add an activity and a time, then give the other person room to say whether it works.

Suggest an activity and check availability

For a weekend, say neste fim de semana (this weekend) or no sábado (on Saturday). A gente is common in Brazilian conversation for we, and it takes a third-person singular verb: a gente pode sair (we can go out).

Você quer tomar um café no sábado?

Would you like to get coffee on Saturday?

Bora conhecer aquele parque?

Want to check out that park?

Que horário funciona melhor para você?

What time works best for you?

Accept, decline, or suggest another time

If the plan works, say Fechado! (Sounds good!) or Pode ser (That works). If you are busy, a brief explanation plus another suggestion keeps the invitation open without promising a time you cannot make.

Use não consigo neste sábado (I can’t this Saturday) for a specific conflict and que tal domingo? (how about Sunday?) to offer another option. Confirm the place and time once you agree.

Fechado! Te encontro às três.

Sounds good! I’ll meet you at three.

Neste sábado não consigo. Que tal domingo?

I can’t this Saturday. How about Sunday?

Pode ser. Onde a gente se encontra?

That works. Where should we meet?

Put it into practice

Use an invitation, a clear time suggestion, and a flexible response. Confirm where and when you will meet so the plan is easy for everyone to follow.
